What a de-tan can and cannot do
A de-tan speeds up something your skin was going to do anyway. It is worth knowing which part of that is true.

An Ahmedabad summer puts a real tan on most people by the end of May. A de-tan removes the layer of sun-darkened dead skin sitting on the surface, which is why skin looks brighter immediately afterwards.
What it does not do is change your complexion. Melanin production is set by your skin, not by a salon service, and anything promising a permanent shade change is selling you something that does not exist.
The honest version: a de-tan brings you back to your own baseline faster than waiting would. Repeat it every three or four weeks through the hot months and your baseline holds. Stop, and the sun puts it back.
If someone offers you a de-tan that promises more than that, ask what is in it. The answer matters more than the price.
