What a men's cut should include — and what it usually doesn't

The most common complaint about salons in this city is not the cut. It is the bill.

Read enough reviews of Ahmedabad salons and a pattern appears: people are rarely unhappy with the haircut. They are unhappy about being charged for something nobody mentioned — most often a wash.

There is nothing wrong with charging for a wash. There is something wrong with not saying so until the customer is at the counter with wet hair.

A men's cut should be quoted with three things stated up front: what the cut includes, what it does not, and roughly how long it takes. If a salon cannot tell you that before you sit down, the number they eventually give you is not a price, it is an estimate they are free to revise.

Our rate card lists a wash separately for exactly this reason. It is not a trick, and it is not free — it is just written down.
